Head Start & Early Childhood Education Training

ABC’s, 123’s, and an ‘I CAN PLAY’ attitude; Building Blocks of Success

The I Can Play formula helps teachers, aides, administrators, bus drivers and monitors, parents, and anyone connected with youngsters and families growing in the Head Start/Early Head Start environment.

  1. Create Vision – Build the Dream.
  2. Build a Positive Atmosphere – See the path to Success.
  3. Take Risk – Trust and overcome the obstacles.

The I Can Play formula helps staffs, teams, families and individuals stop looking for success and begin living successfully!

I spent the majority of my adult life as a television sportscaster. I met famous individuals who people sometimes call "heroes." Yes, people paid money to see them perform on the field or stage. Because of my job, I would hear: What was he like? or I wish I could go where you go and met the people you meet."
I enjoyed my career but the real ‘heroes’ in my life are the individuals who help people understand they can be ‘better than they think they can be!’ These are everyday people who serve others by teaching leadership skills; goal-setting, and self worth… and they do it in every-day life with action and word. These people are teachers … and some of them are in classrooms, some on playing fields, some in churches and some in the workplace.
I am a storyteller. As so many teachers and coaches have discovered, stories are a wonderful tool to use to help others develop. One of my favorites is the unusual story of a man who flew from Texas to Kentucky to celebrate his former teachers retirement party because her influence had a dramatic impact on his life!"… and her surprising response on seeing her former student. The stories are fun and entertaining but the application and learning helps us build our stories for the future and learn from our stories of the past. Bottom line is we have fun while creating the Vision to see the goal for ourselves and those we teach, guide and coach; we learn how to develop the Positive Atmosphere needed to believe and influence others; and we trust ourselves to Risk and move forward to help others see and experience success.
For your reference, I have listed a few of the schools, Head Start and Early childhood organizations that I have recently visited.

This module brings alive the three keys needed for positive team performance:
1. Focus on the Goal – To shape the future for children and families.
2. Take Ownership – Each staff member commits to guide and influence the success of the team, children and families.
3. Create a Cooperative Environment – Develop an atmosphere of success where team members influence each other to establish a climate of success.
